You need some kind of random number generator, don't you? You make as many banners as you want, upload them somewhere, and then a random one of the lot gets picked to be shown every time someone looks at the blog :)
Unfortunately I have no idea how you might implement it!
PS thanks for the comments .. I really love your photography too and it would be lovely to see more of it. Despite doing illustration I very much enjoy photography. I'm using the 365 project to force myself to learn more and in a way develop practical camera skills, and also visual compositioning (or 'composting' as I like to call it) skills - which is useful for the illustration.
