a weekend jaunt

Rye building

We took a little trip down the coast to Rye this weekend. We only went for one night but it was just enough to blow away the January blues and have a little break.

We wandered around the village, explored the bits of the countryside that we could without getting too muddy, ate great food, played pub games, and generally just pottered about.

It was grand!

Oh, and the rain held off long enough on Saturday morning for us to climb up the church tower and take in the views. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a problem with heights (for those that do it might be a bit much).

I think one night holidays might be the way forward. I like the minimal planning involved, and it makes the weekend seem much longer.

The Potash

the potash

Last weekend I went away with some friends for a few days in Suffolk.

It was such a lovely time in the countryside: we played boules on the lawn, rounders by a castle, threw stones in the sea and had an evening murder mystery barbecue.

Long weekends are the way forward...

ps. If I ever own a house I'll definitely make an embroidery of it.

something for the weekend

• cherries from the garden
• work in progress
• buttery jam biscuits

A nice saturday filled with baking, trampolining, cheese & bread, gambling, fish & chips, and cake on the beach. I'm not sure my stomach is thanking me though...

quiet weekend

Sometimes it's quite nice not to do much at all.
This weekend I didn't really leave the house (apart from when I went to had to buy jaffa cakes from the corner shop).
On Saturday Rosie brought home a GIANT world map so we gathered together all our postcards and spent some of Sunday morning playing with little red dots and thread. It's looking good!
But we need more --> if you send us a postcard we'll be ever so pleased.
