crochet like crazy

more crochet squares

Here are some more crochet squares that have been added to the stitch library over the last couple of months.

I should probably put them all together and see if I've got anywhere near enough for a blanket, especially as I'm running out of different shades of wool to use.

I like the blackberry salad stitch the most here. Bobbly!

And I'm really not sure why 'cat's eyes' has that name - any ideas?

a bunny for a baby

Here's a little rabbit comforter I made last month for a little one called Saul.
rabbit comforter
It was based on this pattern from Lion Brand yarns, and is hopefully a nice thing for little hands to hold onto.

I just realised I also made a bunny themed present for his big brother a few years ago. I hope they are a family of rabbit lovers!

covert crochet

a blanket for Ben

I made this blanket for Ben for Christmas. It was 6 months in the making but I managed to keep it under the radar - I think he was quite surprised on Christmas day.

I was quite surprised myself, as for a short while it was touch and go as to whether I would finish it in time - I was still crocheting the border on the evening of the 23rd.

All done though! And it has kept us both cosy through these cold January nights. Can you believe that he didn't own a blanket before this one? (I have about 5 - I can't get enough!)

Snug.

My stitch library is growing - my favourite here is the boxed block stitch.

I've found myself doing a lot of crochet recently, but I started a knitting project last saturday so the crochet squares are on hold for the time being. I'm making a jumper to wear in spring time by the sea.

Maybe I'll take a crochet project on the plane to Japan though....

orchard

Today I'm going camping in an orchard.
There will be blankets & barbecues & bluebells.
Wonderful!

not a good day for flip-flops

Today I got caught in the BIGGEST rain shower known to man.
I quite liked it.
Though I was very worried that my laptop was going to get drowned.
And when I eventually made it home I was disappointed to discover the boiler had fallen apart.
So now I am very damp & a bit covered in puddle water (there are too many buses in Brighton).

square one

This last few days I have:

• Finished my mum's blanket.

• Made many cheese straws and eaten almost none quite a few.

• Cried in too many places: in pubs, in cafes, in cars, on peoples shoulders, in front of the man who came to fix the boiler. It really must stop soon.

...or maybe I can find a career that utilizes this newly found skill?

• Walked and cycled and swam and walked and cycled and walked some more (and still found myself waking at 6am).

• Welcomed a cat into my home, and let him leave again (that last bit was hard).

• Made a plan. A plan to stick to.

Now my head feels like my desk looks - a bit messy and mostly empty.
Hopefully next week will be different.

blanket

I've finally finished my crochet blanket. Three cheers and a pat and the back for me (it's only taken a year!)
Just in time for the freezing cold weather.
