let's make...cushion covers

cushion covers

Ben & I went to a screen printing workshop at Super+Super on Monday evening. We were a bit pooped after a 6 hour drive home from Cornwall but we're both pretty happy with our efforts!

I want to make some more now. Maybe next time I'll try something a little more intricate.

Here are some sketches I used for inspiration...

Just put some of my piano key screenprints up in my etsy shop.
There are a few different colour combinations so do have a peek!

she comes in colours everywhere

These are the results of my last screen printing class. It was a BIG rush trying to get all the colours printed in time...and some of them are a bit higgledy-piggledy but I think I like it like that.

Now I'm thinking of other courses I want to do. Not until October of course, once my MA is finished, but my top choice at the moment is pottery. I'd like to do something messy I think.

NEWSFLASH: It's national sandwich week! I hope you have all been consuming lots of bread based snacks. I have half a loaf of bread at home that needs eating today so I am going to eat many a sandwich for lunch (& a jam sandwich for pudding!).

It was also national limerick day yesterday. Someone wonderful wrote me some rhymes in time for my lunch break - it made my day.

And an advance warning...next Saturday is world turtle day...I'm not sure what you can do to mark such a special occasion but do get thinking now.

one more to go

This week will be my last screen printing lesson. The course has gone ever so quickly but I have managed to get quite a few things done, & I'm finishing off a 6 colour print on Tuesday night - hope it turns out ok (I'm not always that accurate with my registration).

a tiny bit

Here is a mini sample from my first & second screenprinting class.
I printed a pile of A3 kite/rain/pigeon combinations and then decided to print a few lone pigeons on different types of paper.

I can assure you that not all my work on the course is going to be pigeon related - this week I began printing a chicken, and an egg.

Maybe I'll even move away from birds in the near future...

Oh, and also, I'm VERY excited about this event coming up as part of the Brighton Festival Fringe 2009.
Hope to see you all there on the 25th May.

screen printing

Today I started a screen printing course.
I didn't print a pizza, but I did eat one for lunch.

Did you know the margherita pizza was invented in 1889? Now you do.
See, my blog can be educational too!
